Firstly, let’s discover exactly what an Exercise Physiologist is, and what they do.
An Exercise Physiologist is an Allied Health provider who specialises in the prescription and delivery of exercise, helping those with chronic health conditions, injuries, disabilities and other health concerns.
With four years of University education, Exercise Physiologists’ are best placed to prescribe and deliver exercise, it’s our speciality!
We like to think of exercise as medicine.With the right dosage, it can have a huge positive effect on your short and long term health!
In some instances, your GP might recommend that you see an Exercise Physiologist to help with certain health conditions, such as:
- Obesity and weight management;
- Diabetes management;
- Heart Disease;
- Osteoporosis, and
- Joint and lower back pain.
In these instances, you may be referred under a Medicare plan. This plan is called an Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC), and it allows the patient to see one or more Allied Health providers up to 5 times per calendar year, with Medicare assistance. It’s best you speak with your GP about whether you qualify, as there are a few considerations to be made.
At Bloom Allied Health, we bulk bill all of our EPC Referrals. We believe that healthcare is expensive enough when you are dealing with a chronic health condition.
We don’t want finances to be the reason you can’t learn to exercise, after all – Exercise is Medicine!
If you are managing a chronic health condition, talk with your GP today to see if exercise can help with your condition, we would love to help!
